The Brown's: |
In the late 1800’s, Alejandro Brown was born in Nevis, Virgin Islands. This explains our English surname Brown since Nevis was a British Colony until 1967. It has been said that when Alejandro Brown and his brothers were of age, they traveled to Puerto Rico. In Puerto Rico, Alejandro met his wife Juana Garay a native, born in Ceiba, Puerto Rico. In 1903 they had their first child, Ignacio Brown in Vieques, Puerto Rico. Ignacio, the eldest of seven kids met his wife, Isabel Cepeda Millan, around 1920’s. Isabel was born in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico during 1905. She had two kids from her previous marriage to Pedro Matta who was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. The first was her son Julio Matta then her daughter Ermelinda Matta who passed away at the age of 3. Ignacio and Isabel began a loving relationship and in the late 1920’s started their family of ten, one child passed away at the age of 6. (See our Family Tree for more details.) One by one, their children were moving to the United States when they were of age. Afterwards, Ignacio and Isabel left Puerto Rico and joined their children in New York where eventually they were officially married. Some time later, Ignacio and Isabel went from Parents to Grandparents and the rest is history. I would like to thank our ancestors because if it wasn’t for the decisions they made, we wouldn’t be here! Click on Puerto Rico or Nevis for facts from CIA. |
